PEDAGOGICAL RENEWAL AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
Aadhar-2007
A state wide programme to improve 3Rs in primary schools with special focus on class-I & III was launched during 2007 in all the primary schools of the Pradesh. The objective of the programme was for achieving defined levels of achievement in language & numeracy. There has been a remarkable decrease in the number of students who could not recognize letters and recognize numbers .Also appreciable increase in the percentage of students who can read story and also perform division in mathematics. These results clearly indicate the positive contribution of this programme in increasing the achievement levels of children both in language and numeracy.
Adhar Plus (Shikhar)
SSA H.P. has launched a new programme under the learning enhancement programme . The objective of the programme is that student should learn few competenceis rather than whole syllabus in each subject at primary level. Those students who have qualified the Aadhar programme, they will immediately be shifted to this programme. Baseline survey has been conducted by the teachers and NGO Pratham. Mid Term Assessment is also being prepared by JBT students.
Samvridhi:
This is an unique programme which was launched in this year . Himachal Pradesh probably the first State to start this programem for upper primarychasses. Under this programme, the main stress is laid upon three subjects i.e. Maths, Science & English for 6th to 8th classes. Special trainings are given to the teacher particularly in English subejct.
Resource Groups
SSA HP has given a concrete shape to the idea of a functional, aware, motivated and competent resource group at all levels in the state. District and state resource groups have been oriented / empowered through different state level workshops to provide resource support to SSA.
Shiksha Vimarsh
An open discussion forum on education for teachers and other stakeholders is actively helping in deliberations on educational related issues. It helps in formulating effective strategies to tackle different issues related to education. Six such events would be held during this year. Deliberations were held on issues related to Activity Based Learning, Role of Teachers, Parents and Community in inculcating values in children and Examination Reforms during different seminars.
Anveshan (vUos"k.k )
HP (SSA) is publishing a quarterly journal on educational issues. Contributions from teachers have been received for the same. This is an effective means to enlighten the teachers on the views of thinkers on education and related issues. This publication is being well taken by the readers.
Bal Mela cum TLM Mela
It is celebrated right from cluster to state level once in a year. This event provides an ample opportunity to the children for self expression & show their creativity.
Library
To strengthen the library movement in 100 selected schools of district Shimla an MOU was signed with an organization Room to Read India Trust. Most of the students of these schools have developed a reading habit which has helped them in their day today learning.
General Teachers Training
15 days Teachers training modules were developed by different districts .It contained both content and general educational issues. Nine days were utilized in dealing with general educational issues and six days were devoted to trainings on specific subjects. Aadhar was the main focus area of trainings at primary level.
Training of Para Teachers (Vidya Upasaks)
Final training module for Vidya Upasks was developed at SPO. This self contained module included all the psychological and philosophical basis of education and also transactional strategies related to different subjects. Question papers for final evaluation were also developed by SPO.
Development of curriculum on the basis of NCF-2005
National curriculum framework-2005 was analyzed in during series of workshops held at SCERT Solan. Inputs for modification have been provided for the same by state pedagogy unit which were incorporated in the adopted NCF-2005.
