Distance Education Programme in SSA is an important intervention. The main objective of the Distance education is to:-
- Improve the learning levels in children.
- Create interest among children in curriculum area.
- Provide academic support to the teachers.
- Monitoring through distance mode.
Progress overview under DEP-SSA:-
- Organize DEP-SRG meeting on 30-08-07 to review the DEP activities & to chalk out the strategies for 2007-08.
- Organized the Teleconferencing on civil works, EGS/AIE, NPEGEL, Planning Monitoring ,ADEPTS &Teachers Trainings at SPO & in all the districts.
- Adharshilla Maths & Hindi ,Community Mobilization, Research impact & Feedback studies, Handbook on CCE , A Study on the impact of DEP-SSA intervention through teleconferencing & Effective classroom Processes (A Resource Book) self learning material has been distributed to districts.
- Organized a workshop to edit the book developed on inclusive education for teachers, parents & Anganbari workers etc. on 31-08-07.
- Documentation of Success Stories.
- Duplication of Audio VCDs and cassettes on SSA songs & are being distributed to Districts and blocks.
Use of Distance Education in Inclusive Education for teachers empowerment.
The state has four RCI approved study centres of Foundation Courses in Special Education through Distance Education of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University for the training of IE teachers. These centres are :
- State Project Office, SSA
- DIET at Saru Chamba
- DIET at Jarad, Kullu
- DIET at Nahan, Sirmour
In addition to it, distance education mode is used as :-
- Radio Doordarshan talks on inclusive education and parents conseling.
- Teleconferencing on identification and management.
- Print Material – Pryatan/Abhiprerna have been developed for general teachers Resource Persons.
- To collect feed back on use of distance learning input in IED.
- To identify potential hard spots for development of distance learning material for CWSN.
Future strategies
- To make all DR System functional in all the districts.
- To organize Teleconference at national level.
- Development of SLM (Self Learning Material) to the teachers , how to develop TLM?
- Organise State Resource Group Meeting.
- Development of publicity Material /Posters/charts/Booklets/Publicity on Radio/ Television.
New Plans for 2008-09
- Development of CDs on small stories/poems.
- Audio Programme on teaching of English Class-1 Facilities training of DIET faculty members have been organized for the smooth conduct of Teleconferencing Programme at learning ends.
